Leeds United should make genuine attempt to sign Kenedy

Leeds United should make a genuine attempt to sign Kenedy from Chelsea this summer.

The Whites have shown interest in signing the versatile Chelsea winger, as reported by The Daily Mail on 25 July, and they must make a strong effort to bring him to the club.

The 26-year-old shocked many Chelsea fans when Thomas Tuchel selected him in the starting XI for the final Premier League game of last season against Watford.

He has impressed against Charlotte at right wing-back, but his future remains up in the air. With Cesar Azpilicueta likely to leave, Kenedy could be seen as an adequate cover for Reece James, but Leeds can tempt him with a lucrative offer.

This has been a massive transfer window for the Whites who lost both Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, but Jesse Marsch has done extremely well to bolster the squad in every department.

However, the Whites can afford to add another winger to their ranks following the departure of Raphinha.

Kenedy has managed 30 games for Chelsea in all competitions since joining the club in 2015. He spent loan spells at Watford, Newcastle United, Getafe, Granada and Flamengo during this time.

The fact that he can play as both right and left wing-back is an added advantage.

At 26, Kenedy could be tempted to join a club that can offer him regular football. He is on £25k-per-week wages, and it shouldn’t be a big problem for Leeds to match the amount.

In fact, the Whites can tempt him with a better pay package as well. While the Charles De Ketelaere deal has hit a snag, Leeds can swiftly make a move for Kenedy to add more depth to their squad.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites now want to sign this striker with a rival set to kickstart a major £30million+ transfer battle
