Leeds United set to see these six players leave permanently

Leeds United appear set to have an overhaul in the transfer window as they have secured promotion to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke has been given the backing by Paraag Marathe and is expected to stay on for the 2025/26 season.

The German guided the Whites to 100 points and a Championship title, after a win against Plymouth Argyle.

Patrick Bamford and Junior Firpo among six likely exits

According to TEAMtalk on 6 May, Junior Firpo is closing in on an exit with a return to Real Betis on the cards.

Along with him, Patrick Bamford, Joshua Guilavogui, Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt are also likely to leave.

Sam Byram, whose contract runs out next month, is also not expected to sign a new deal at Elland Road.

This would mean that at least six players will not be at Leeds next season as they aim to avoid relegation in their first season back up.

Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff is understood to be among the players they’re targeting ahead of the new season.

Leeds United have to recruit wisely in the summer

Leeds must be precise with their recruitment to avoid relegation after securing Premier League promotion with a 100-point Championship season.

The Premier League’s intensity demands quality and depth, as newly promoted teams face a steep challenge – historically, the probability of survival is only slightly better than relegation.

Leeds’ previous top-flight stint exposed defensive frailties, and with relegated teams like Leicester and Southampton losing key players, the competition for survival will be fierce.

Targeting players who bring experience and defensive solidity is a step in the right direction, but Leeds must also address goalkeeping, with links to Aaron Ramsdale, and add midfield tenacity to cope with the league’s physicality.

Poor recruitment, as seen with Leicester’s recent struggles, can doom a season.

Farke’s side needs proven Premier League talent and smart signings to complement their attacking style, ensuring they aren’t overwhelmed by the step up.
