Leeds United set for seven-figure windfall as Elia Caprile set to join Napoli in £6m transfer
Leeds United are set to earn a seven-figure windfall as Elia Caprile edges closer to a £6m transfer to Napoli, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Writing on his personal website (21 July) the Italian Sky Sports journalist is reporting that talks between Serie A champions Napoli and Baris are now at the final documents stage, before the goalkeeper joins Empoli on loan for the season of the season.
However Leeds are set to earn 25% of the final fee due to a sell-on clause they have, meaning they could be set to net up to £1.5m from the deal.

“There is the ok between Napoli and Bari for the transfer of Caprile. After today’s contacts, the parties have now reached the final documents of the negotiation,” he wrote (21 July).
“The goalkeeper will sign a five-year contract and the price tag is around 6-7 million euros (£5.2m-£6m) with 25% going to Leeds, his former club. The goalkeeper will then go on loan to Empoli.”
Excellent
Caprile was realistically never going to make it at Leeds as the number one, and a move to the Italian champions is probably a big surprise to many at Elland Road.
When they sold him back in the summer of 2022 nobody was expecting to see much from the deal, but the previous board and transfer team deserve some credit for installing this clause in the deal.

With our relegation to the Championship, any extra money is obviously a huge boost to the club and a seven-figure sum isn’t something to be laughed at.
The 49ers have committed to backing Daniel Farke in the market, but extra money will always be useful and could help towards keeping players we don’t want to lose.
It’s a timely boost for us as we near the beginning of the new season, and shows the importance of these types of clauses when selling young players as you never know what the future holds.
In other Leeds news, more outgoing transfers are expected with the 49ers set ti back Farke.
