Leeds United send delegation to Merseyside as Artem Dovbyk transfer ready

Leeds United could potentially complete a transfer swoop for Roma striker Artem Dovbyk.

Gian Piero Gasperini doesn’t have the ex-Girona forward in his plans for the upcoming campaign.

Dovbyk has been linked with a move to Elland Road, and the 28-year-old could be the perfect addition for the Whites before the end of August.

Daniel Farke will hope for reinforcements in his attack after losing Mateo Joseph, who has joined Mallorca on loan, and the West Yorkshire outfit have now set their sights on the Ukraine international.

Leeds United watch Dovbyk at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Leeds had a delegation present at the Hill Dickinson Stadium as Dovbyk’s Roma faced Everton on Saturday, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The newspaper reports (11 August, page 13) that the Whites are interested in a move for the 28-year-old at Elland Road after being rejected by Lecce striker Nikola Krstovic.

It’s been claimed that the West Yorkshire outfit have swooped in for the Ukrainian centre-forward as they look to revolutionise their attack.

Dovbyk started in Merseyside against the Toffees on 9 August as the Serie A outfit won the pre-season friendly 1-0 away from home.

How much Dovbyk could cost at Leeds?

Roma could sell Dovbyk for at least £26million this summer, which Leeds can definitely afford.

The Whites were willing to spend upwards of £30m to sign Igor Paixao from Feyenoord before he eventually joined Olympique Marseille.

It’s clear that the West Yorkshire outfit have the necessary finances to find a major incoming transfer in the coming weeks, but it remains to be seen whether the 49ers Enterprises feel the Ukraine international is worth it.

Leeds could also sell Patrick Bamford soon, as Farke doesn’t have the striker in his plans for next season.

The German manager doesn’t have a lot of options in the number nine position despite signing Lukas Nmecha as a free agent recently.

Dovbyk earns around £92,500 a week at Roma, as per Capology, and that’s definitely something they can fit into their wage structure after top-flight promotion.
