Leeds United scouts present at PSV Eindhoven v Ajax on summer transfer mission

Leeds United scouts were present at Sunday’s major European derby between PSV Eindhoven and Ajax to watch players ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Whites have already begun their plans ahead of the summer, despite their Premier League status not being assured with six games of the season remaining.

And their transfer missions are already underway, with Elland Road scouts being present to watch the big Eredivisie derby with several players on their radar according to 90min (24 April).

Defensive midfielder Ibrahim Sangare was one player being watched, with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham previously being credited with an interest in the Ivorian who has a £32m release clause.

On-loan defender Jarrad Branthwaite was also on the agenda, with the Everton defender attracting plenty of attention also with at least ten Premier League clubs present at the game.

Talent

It’s a football match that would have had huge amounts of talent on the pitch, and it is interesting that Leeds were reportedly looking at the more defensive-minded players.

While it’s also important to note that there is no official list of who was being watched, the report names those two as players that were being keenly watched.

Branthwaite has impressed in central defence and with Everton likely to go down if we manage to stay in the Premier League, there is the potential for a cheap deal to be done.

As for Sangare, there is tough competition for his signature and reports suggest that if we are to stay in the division then Weston McKennie will be signed permanently, so it seems unlikely that will happen.

But the positions are clearly high up on the priorities to be done this summer, so it will be interesting to pay attention to any other targets that come to light too.
