Leeds United resolve set to be tested with fresh Willy Gnonto transfer offer
Graham Smyth would be “shocked” if Leeds United do not receive any further transfer offers for attacker Wilfried Gnonto before the window closes.
Gnonto has once again been linked with a move away from Elland Road this summer, but he remains in place ahead of the 30 August deadline.
Leeds have already seen Crysencio Summerville leave, and Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Smyth insists an exit for fellow winger Gnonto cannot be ruled out just yet.
“I’d be shocked if someone didn’t try to sign Gnonto before the end of the window,” he said on talkSPORT live from Elland Road [10 August, 12:10].
“He proved last season he can score goals and he proved himself in the Premier League under Jesse Marsch as well.
“I just don’t see a scenario where someone doesn’t test Leeds’ resolve for Gnonto, but you never know.”
Leeds United may have Willy Gnonto decision to make
There has been far less drama surrounding Gnonto this summer compared to 12 months ago when he handed in a transfer request.
Everton tabled a £23million bid from Everton earlier in the window [Nancy Froston, 6 August], which has only recently come to light.
Leeds knocked that back in a clear show of their stance when it comes to the Italy international.
It would have been interesting to see if they would have been more open to offers, though, had it come in before Summerville went to West Ham.

As is so often the case in the transfer window, it is likely that teams will really ramp up activity as we approach the deadline.
A fresh offer for Gnonto is therefore very much possible, and if a bid closer to £30m comes in, the Leeds chiefs will have a massive decision to make.
