Leeds United play hardball in new Diego Llorente transfer update

Leeds United are “not being easy” in negotiations with Real Betis for Diego Llorente, according to Diario de Sevilla.

The Spanish outlet reported on 4 July that the West Yorkshire outfit is reluctant to accept Betis’ first offered fee of £3.8million.

Although Manuel Pellegrini’s first fee was rejected by Leeds, personal terms for Llorente are already said to be at an advanced stage.

Why Leeds United should try to negotiate the departure of Diego Llorente this summer

In the eyes of most Leeds fans, Llorente’s stay in West Yorkshire is already over.

The defender has spent the last 18 months on loan to Roma and has failed to show any desire to return to the club upon the expiry of that deal.

Not only has this meant that the Whites have had to find a suitor for him but it also means that they will likely have to lose a large chunk of what they spent on him.

The future of Max Wober is still in the air [Graham Smyth, 14 June] as the Austria international and Leeds are yet to decide where his future may lie.

The addition of Joe Rodon to their ranks has also helped the Whites’ defensive troubles tenfold as they know they have at least Rodon, Pascal Struijk and Ethan Ampadu to rely upon at the start of the season.

The fee he’d bring in, though minimal, would help the Whites reinvest across their squad as they look to gain promotion to the top flight once again.

In other Leeds news, Patrick Bamford could finally be on his way out of Elland Road.
