Leeds United receive ‘biggest sign yet’ to strike Tyrique George deal amid Chelsea latest
Daniel Farke may soon get the green light from Leeds United to go all out for Tyrique George.
Leeds are closing in on the signing of Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton, but the 49ers may not be done shopping in the attacking department.
The Whites have recently had a surge of goals since Farke’s change to a 3-5-2 formation, but the German head coach will be fully aware that he needs fresh outlets up top.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin can only be relied on for goals for so long, and Leeds’ interest in Chelsea’s Tyrique George may pick up momentum over a potential deal in the coming days.

Liam Rosenior doesn’t seem interested in Tyrique George
Where George would fit into Farke‘s plans remains to be seen, given that the forward’s main position is on the wings.
However, the English youngsters’ flexibility to play across the front line may still attract the Whites.
- George can play left and right-wing as well as a striker
- He has played several times for England’s under-21s side
- George has five goal contributions despite only six starts for Chelsea this season
As reported by the Daily Mail on Wednesday, George’s omission from Liam Rosenior’s first game in charge of the Blues against Charlton Athletic was the “biggest sign yet” that the winger will leave Stamford Bridge this window.
Chelsea are stacked with wingers as Alejandro Garnacho, Pedro Neto, Jamie Gittens, Estevao and Cole Palmer can all play out wide.
Leeds would most likely test the waters with a loan move for George in January, and the recent findings prove that a deal could be wrapped up if the Whites make further contact.
Why George can give Daniel Farke a crucial point of difference
George has the potential to play for England one day, and he’ll know that game time is vital at this point in his career for that dream to come true.
Although the attacker may not fit perfectly into Farke’s current formation, there may be a point where teams start to have more success against the German’s new system.
| Game | Position played |
| Chelsea vs Cardiff City | Right-wing |
| Qarabag FK vs Chelsea | Striker |
| Wolves vs Chelsea | Striker |
The Leeds boss will then have a choice to revert to his familiar 4-3-3 setup, which utilises wide forwards, as George’s potential could be unlocked only then and there.
Many names have been thrown in the mix this window, but George is truly a realistic option that the Whites have firmly in their thoughts.
