Leeds United: Real Betis president Angel Haro answers whether Junior Firpo will sign in January
Angel Haro has dismissed reports that Leeds United defender Junior Firpo could be set to make the move to Real Betis in January.
Speaking to the online news outlet Infobae on Wednesday (29 November), the La Liga club’s president admitted that the former Betis academy product is a player they are “very fond of”.
But after Foot Mercato reported on Tuesday (28 November) that the Seville-based side want to sign the 27-year-old on loan with an option to buy in January, Haro added that the Dominican left-back is “not on the table”.

“The list is short and I haven’t seen that name,” said Haro. “He is a player that we are very fond of, who is a Bético youth player but I already say that he is not on the table.”
Unlikely
It sounds as though a deal to take Firpo from Leeds to Real Betis is probably unlikely to happen as the January transfer window approaches.
It’s no real surprise to see the defender being linked with his former club after coming through the ranks at the Estadio Benito Villamarin before making the move to Barcelona in 2019.
It was only two years later that he found himself signing for the Whites, but he hasn’t had the best of times at Elland Road, largely down to injuries.

The left-back has returned to the fold over the past few weeks and made his first start of the season in the 1-1 draw with Rotherham United on Friday (24 November).
He will now be looking to nail down a regular place in the starting lineup under Daniel Farke as the West Yorkshire club look to gain promotion back up to the Premier League.
In other Leeds United news, a Whites player is surely set for a January exit after the latest Farke snub.
