Leeds United are now ready and willing to talk about a potential exit for midfielder Ilia Gruev, according to Sky Sports Germany.

The reputable source has reported that the Whites don't want to lose the Bulgarian midfielder, but failure to earn promotion back to the Premier League has opened the door potentially.

Borussia Dortmund are among the clubs listed as interested in Gruev, with Leeds already rejecting bids from the Premier League for the holding midfielder.

Despite being willing to talk about an exit, only a "certain sum" would kickstart negotiations.

Ilia Gruev set to leave Leeds United?

This isn't the first player linked with an exit at Elland Road, and it certainly will not be the last.

There is no need to panic yet for Leeds fans, with the transfer window not yet even open and links arriving left, right and centre from Elland Road.

Yes, Leeds will need to sell players [Daily Mail], but with added investment from Red Bull, that need will have dropped with other big names likely on the chopping block before Gruev.

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke
Daniel Farke failed to win promotion at Leeds United in his first season.

Daniel Farke will want to build his second-season squad around players like Gruev, who were distraught at Wembley but likely to use that as motivation next season.

The likes of Crysencio Summerville will likely be the first to leave, with big clubs like Chelsea lining up for someone who will bring in a lot of cash [Simon Phillips].

This is one to watch, but Paraag Marathe and the 49ers Enterprises will know that they can't just sell anyone and everyone, so let's not worry about Gruev just yet.

He simply has to stay.
