Leeds United ready to sign Mario Stroeykens as update on personal terms drops
Leeds United have a pivotal summer ahead if they are to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League.
Early reports suggest that Leeds are targeting Premier League experience, with a raid on Newcastle United on the agenda.
However, players based in England will come at a surplus, meaning the Whites should err on the side of caution.
That means that the foreign market will be utilised, and the Elland Road club have identified Mario Stroeykens as a target.

Leeds United begin discussions with Stroeykens
Leeds may have received a £120million financial boost, but that will only go so far in the Premier League.
Last summer, newly promoted Ipswich Town and Southampton both spent around that figure, but suffered relegation at the first hurdle.
Therefore, the Whites must learn from the failures of the relegated duo and be savvy in the transfer market.
As the Yorkshire outfit look abroad, they have been linked with a move for Stroeykens, according to Sacha Travolieri (10 June).
Mario Stroeykens’ 2024/25 Jupiler Pro League statistics | Total |
Appearances | 27 |
Goals | 4 |
Expected goals (xG) | 2.39 |
Assists | 5 |
Expected assists (xA) | 3.79 |

The Belgian journalist claims that the Peacocks have commenced initial discussions around personal terms, although no offer has yet been made.
Stroeykens enjoyed a regular starting berth for Anderlecht last season, making 23 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League.
The attacking midfielder notched eight goal contributions in the league and also made an impact in the UEFA Europa League.
Leeds must strengthen in forward areas
The Peacocks were devastating at times in the Championship last season, finishing as the highest scorers on 95 goals.
Furthermore, they possess the Golden Boot winner in Joel Piroe, who ended the campaign with 19 Championship goals.
However, this achievement is now a memory, and Leeds must have both eyes on the future. The Elland Road club will be desperate to land Manor Solomon, who was so effective while on loan last term.
Solomon was a creative spark on the wing and scored the definitive goal that clinched the Championship title for Daniel Farke. While signing Solomon would be a start, Leeds must add competition for Piroe, who is yet to play in the Premier League.
