Leeds United ready to sell Patrick Bamford in summer transfer window
Leeds United are likely to list Patrick Bamford for transfer this summer as the club secures its finances amid worries surrounding Profitability & Sustainability Rules, according to Craig Hope.
Hope’s MailOnline report suggests Bamford may be sold to prevent any further risk of having to sell valuable assets such as Crysencio Summerville, Ilian Meslier, Georginio Rutter, Archie Gray and Wilfried Gnonto.
Bamford – who has missed the last handful of games through injury but could return for the Championship play-off final if Leeds make it – has frustrated many this season with fitness issues and a return of eight goals in 33 league matches, his joint-fewest in a Championship season during his career.
Previously a talisman at Elland Road, Bamford earned his solitary England cap during the height of his Premier League form, starting in a 4-0 win over Andorra in September 2021.
Now north of 30 and having made 187 appearances for Leeds, scoring 60 goals, many are predicting the former Chelsea man will move on with the club looking to recoup funds.
Does Patrick Bamford have a future at Leeds United?
At the moment, it doesn’t look as if Bamford will remain at Leeds United beyond this summer, for three primary reasons.
Firstly, the striker looks like he is on a natural decline at Elland Road – his goal return and confidence aren’t close to what they used to be – and the form of Joel Piroe at times this season, alongside the club’s open pursuit of Che Adams, could spell a round of applause and a farewell handshake.

Then you have the two alternatives. If Leeds are in the Championship next season, the club will be looking to auction off one or two gems in order to reinvest in the squad – be it with or without Daniel Farke at the helm. Promotion would be a non-negotiable next year.
And the pressure of PSR will hang around the shoulders of the Leeds board like a two-ton medallion next season should they achieve promotion to the Premier League. Not only that, but Bamford’s last season in the top flight reaped a measly four goals, alongside a jittery campaign this time around.
There’s still plenty left for Bamford to offer in what has already been a long career, but it looks to be away from West Yorkshire.
