Leeds United ready to seal Kerem Akturkoglu transfer, goodbyes soon

Galatasaray winger Kerem Akturkoglu is very close to leaving with Leeds United ready to take action in a potential £12.9million deal, according to Aksam.

The Turkish news outlet reported on 2 January that Akturkoglu is preparing to take a step into the Championship and is now ready to wave goodbye to his current club.

It is also claimed that Italian outfit Lazio were interested in his signature, but it appears Leeds have beat them to the punch for the player who dreams of playing in Europe.

An amazing deal

If Leeds can get this one over the line, their hopes of a Premier League promotion push will gain a massive boost. Signing a player who has scored three Champions League goals this season, and deploying him in the Championship, will be fascinating to watch.

In the Turkish Super Lig, Akturkoglu has picked up five goals and five assists in 17 games, with Galatasaray second only on goal difference with an identical record of 14 wins, two draws and just one defeat all season.

One thing that could also delight Leeds fans would be the Turkish international’s goal at Old Trafford earlier in the season, which contributed to their bitter rivals’ elimination from the Champions League at the earliest possible stage.

Leeds United fans at Elland Road

With the deal already said to be close to completion, with Akturkoglu ready to say goodbye to Galatasaray, Leeds appear to have landed themselves a brilliant deal for just £12.9million for a player with Champions League experience.

It will be interesting to see how he adapts to English football and the Championship in particular, but he certainly has the quality.

In other Leeds United news, the club must accelerate a £5.2million deal after another blow.
