Leeds United ready to pay £40m for Wolves star Adama Traore
Leeds United are prepared to pay £40million to sign Wolves and Spain winger Adama Traore this summer, according to Eurosport.
The broadcaster claims the Whites are continuing to show interest in the 25-year-old with a number of exits on the cards at Molineux in the wake of Nuno Espirito Santo’s departure as manager.
Leeds reportedly have “long-standing” interest in former Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Barcelona winger Traore and it is understood the Whites are willing to pay £40million for him.
If Leeds can get Traore for £40million then they would be getting quite the discount on a player who was once valued at £80million.
We really don’t think Traore is worth anywhere near that and in truth, if we pay £40million we’d also be getting ripped off.
Traore is a very fast and direct player who’s great at helping teams get the ball up the pitch while also causing a lot of problems for defenders – even Jurgen Klopp called him “unplayable” [Goal].
However, his end-product is absolutely woeful.
In 131 appearances in all competitions for Wolves since joining them from Middlesbrough in 2018, Traore has scored just 10 goals and supplied only 18 assists.
This season, the Spain international scored two goals and assisted three in his 37 Premier League appearances. He had to wait until April to get his first goal of the campaign too – and that was against relegated Fulham.
Traore would be a handy player for Marcelo Bielsa to have in his squad but we wouldn’t be too happy to see the club spend over £20million on the Wolves forward.
And why is that?
He simply doesn’t do more at Wolves than the likes of Jack Harrison and Raphinha do at Leeds.
