Leeds United ready Sean Longstaff agreement as Newcastle set for increased transfer warchest
Sean Longstaff could become the latest player to join newly promoted Leeds United.
Daniel Farke led his side to Premier League promotion with the title after a last-minute winner from Manor Solomon against Plymouth handed Leeds the Championship.
Solomon is one of several players with their future in the air at Elland Road, after returning to Tottenham following his loan spell.
But where there are outgoings, there must be incomings, and Newcastle midfielder Longstaff could be one of the first to arrive at Elland Road in the coming weeks.

Longstaff ideal fit for Leeds
While Leeds will be hopeful for the new season, staying up in the Premier League has been difficult for newly promoted Championship sides.
Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton are the latest teams to be demoted to the second division immediately, and Leeds will be determined not the become the next.
Club | MP | W | D | L | Pts |
18. Ipswich Town | 36 | 4 | 10 | 22 | 22 |
19. Leicester City | 36 | 5 | 7 | 24 | 22 |
20. Southampton | 36 | 2 | 6 | 28 | 12 |
According to TEAMtalk (13 May), the Whites view Longstaff as an ideal fit for Farke’s high-intensity system and the perfect profile for squad depth.
Newcastle desire around £12million for the former Blackpool loanee to help fund their war chest, but if he is to leave, he wants regular football.
Leeds could face tough competition for his signature with Everton and Manchester United also vying for his services.

Longstaff is a good rotational option
Heading into the Premier League with the tide against them, Leeds are going to need all the help they can get.
While Longstaff has made Newcastle’s starting XI just 12 times this season, he offers something more valuable than consistency; he brings experience.
During a time when limited experience has facilitated the demise of promoted Championship clubs, having a Premier League-proven player could not hurt.
Additionally, the box-to-box midfielder is known for his work ethic and skill, and could help United compete at the highest level possible next season.
With Leeds planning to take the top division by storm in the coming months, using £12m of their war chest to fund Longstaff’s signing may be the smartest move they will make.
