Leeds United ready new Jorgen Strand Larsen bid in latest Sky Sports update
Leeds United remain in talks with Wolves over signing Jorgen Strand Larsen in the winter transfer window.
Crystal Palace have joined the race for Strand Larsen, with the Eagles wary of losing Jean-Philippe Mateta before the 2 February deadline.
Daniel Farke is looking to sign a new number nine at Elland Road, and the Norway international is firmly on the Whites’ agenda.
The West Yorkshire outfit have already seen a bid rejected for the 25-year-old centre-forward, but they seem determined to get a deal over the line sooner rather than later.

Wolves anticipate new Leeds United offer for Jorgen Strand Larsen
Leeds have seen Wolves reject a £39million package deal for Strand Larsen, but have continued their negotiations.
Now, Sky Sports reporter Bela Shah has revealed that the Molineux hierarchy are ready to receive a new offer from Elland Road for the Norwegian attacker, but it hasn’t arrived yet.
The West Midlands outfit have placed a £40m price tag on the centre-forward, and the Peacocks will now have to compete with serious interest from Palace.
Speaking on Sky Sports News on 28 January, Shah said, “Leeds remain in talks over the signing of Strand Larsen, but they are wary of interest from Crystal Palace. Wolves have been anticipating a new bid from Leeds for the Norway striker after one was rejected earlier this month.”
The journalist added, “That bid hasn’t happened yet, and Palace are now more seriously considering Strand Larsen if they lose Mateta before the deadline. Palace enquired about Strand Larsen in December but were initially put off by the £40m asking price.”
It’s safe to say Leeds have surprised many with their initial bid for Strand Larsen, after suggestions they wouldn’t spend much in January.
There have also been concerns around the West Yorkshire outfit regarding Profitability and Sustainability Rules, but it looks like 49ers Enterprises are confident of balancing the books.
Where would Jorgen Strand Larsen rank in record transfers at Elland Road?
Leeds are ready to go big for Strand Larsen, and while he hasn’t had the best of seasons, his debut Premier League campaign was encouraging, scoring 14 goals in 35 appearances.
The Norway international has struggled with fitness issues in recent months, and Farke has shown with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha that he can bring the best out of his centre-forwards.
| Player | Transfer fee |
| Georginio Rutter | £35.5m |
| Rodrigo Moreno | £26m |
| Daniel James | £25m |
If the West Yorkshire outfit do pay £40m for the Wolves striker, he’ll be their most expensive signing behind Georginio Rutter, Rodrigo Moreno and Daniel James.
Paraag Marathe is clearly looking to make a statement of intent, but it remains to be seen whether the Peacocks will get what they want in their chase for Strand Larsen.
