Leeds United ready multi-million transfer deal as exit on cards

Leeds United are already preparing for the upcoming transfer window with Austria Vienna midfielder Abubakr Barry on their radar.

Daniel Farke’s team are gunning for Premier League promotion as they sit top of the Championship table.

The Whites will look to cement their place in first place as they face Preston North End at Elland Road on Saturday (12 April).

Farke has relied on Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell for most of the season as Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev have struggled to stay fit, and there could potentially be changes in the engine room next summer.

Barry transfer interest emerges at Leeds

Barry is attracting interest from the West Yorkshire outfit ahead of next summer, according to Kronen Zeitung.

The news outlet reports (12 April) that the Whites are targeting the 24-year-old, with Vienna’s sporting director wanting “in the millions” for him.

It’s been claimed that the Austrian outfit could potentially sell The Gambia international in the coming months, with his contract expiring in 2026.

Apart from the Peacocks, Championship rivals Hull City are also looking to sign the central midfielder, who has been described as robust and technically gifted.

Farke must be backed with transfers in the Premier League

Farke’s team beat Middlesbrough 1-0 on Tuesday (8 April), getting top spot in the Championship and renewing hopes of automatic promotion.

While getting into the Premier League isn’t a foregone conclusion, the Elland Road faithful will be confident with just five more domestic fixtures left.

As things stand, the Whites are level on points with Burnley but are ahead due to goal difference, with Sheffield United just two points behind.

Pascal Struijk’s injury is a big blow for Leeds, but they have enough quality in their squad to ensure a perfect end to the season.

Once the West Yorkshire outfit eventually get into the Premier League, they’ll arguably need to invest in their squad to maintain their top flight status.

While Tanaka and Rothwell have done well in recent months, playing against the best teams in the world will undoubtedly be challenging for them.

Farke will need the 49ers Enterprises to show initiative in the summer if the Whites do get promoted and bolster his squad.

Barry seems like a decent option to have on the Peacocks’ books, but the 24-year-old will need to be assessed in the Premier League before he can be counted on.
