Leeds United ready move to sign Sheffield United defender Jayden Bogle in transfer window

Leeds United are about to make a move for Sheffield United defender Jayden Bogle, according to Mike McGrath.

The Telegraph journalist reported via X on 13 July that the Whites are interested in bolstering Daniel Farke’s squad win the 23-year-old full-back.

Since the end of last season the German has seen Connor Roberts return to Burnley at the end of his loan and Archie Gray sold to Tottenham to reduce his options at the position.

Jamie Shackleton also left at the expiry of his Elland Road contract and has moved in the opposite direction to Bogle’s potential move after signing for the Blades.

Jamie Shackleton left Leeds United to sign at Bramall Lane

Bogle was a regular for Sheffield United on the right of the defence or the midfield throughout their previous campaign in the Premier League, making 34 league appearances and scoring three times.

It may be that Shackleton’s arrival in Chris Wilder’s squad has cleared the way for the English to depart so if Farke views him as a regular feature in his line up next term it may prove to be an upgrade.

Ultimately it is unlikely to make up for the departure of teenage star Gray who spent the majority of the season at right-back after originally excelling in his preferred midfield.

But soon after the loan move or Bournemouth midfielder Joe Rothwell it would represent another necessary step in restocking a squad which has seen a number of players depart since the play-off final defeat to Southampton consigned Leeds United to another year in the Championship.

Further high profile departures are still expected amid widespread top-flight interest in star winger Crysencio Summerville and reported plans to sell the likes of Junior Firpo and Patrick Bamford [Daily Mail, 1 July].

So Farke and his recruitment department will need to follow up the pursuit of Bogle with further additions if they are to go one better next term and return to the Premier League.
