Leeds United ready move to sign Chelsea outcast Michy Batshuayi as transfer green light shines

Leeds United are among the clubs readying a move to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi this summer, according to TeamTalk.

The news outlet reports that Chelsea are poised to sell Batshuayi, 28, in the summer transfer window as he’ll enter the final year of his Stamford Bridge contract when his loan spell at Besiktas expires.

It is understood that the Belgium centre-forward is wanted across Europe but “the most intriguing offers could come from within England.”

TeamTalk claims Leeds, Wolves, Everton, Southampton and Brighton are “considering a move” for the £90,000-a-week man [The Sun].

Batshuayi again?

How many times have we seen Batshuayi’s name linked with Leeds now?

On 2 June last year, The Telegraph claimed Leeds were keen on Batshuayi, who’d previously done well with Marcelo Bielsa as manager at Marseille.

And in August 2020, Belgian outlet HLN also reported that the Whites were keen on the Chelsea outcast.

It seems like he’ll keep getting linked every summer and while some fans might write off a move happening based on that, it ended up coming true with Daniel James.

That was different though as James had been at Leeds and was close to signing previously.

But with Batshuayi, there’s not been anything more than an interest reported in the ex-Crystal Palace loanee.

Chelsea clearly have no use for the Belgian, who’s scored 14 goals in 28 Turkish Super Lig appearances at Besiktas this season.

Do Leeds need him?

Jesse Marsch does need a new striker but we really don’t see this happening.

In other Leeds United news, Marsch could axe a “fantastic” player from his starting line-up at Crystal Palace.
