Leeds United ready Keelan Adams transfer after Rangers development

Leeds United are “monitoring” Falkirk defender Keelan Adams with a potential transfer on the cards, according to Rangers News.

The Scottish outlet reported on 11 December that while United and fellow Championship club Swansea City are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old right-back, they face a battle with Rangers to sign Adams.

Rangers have already sent scouts to watch Adams play for Falkirk in the Scottish Championship on “multiple occasions”, including their 3-0 victory over Raith Rovers last weekend.

Adams has already amassed three goals and five assists in 23 appearances this season and is under contract at Falkirk until 2026, meaning any approach from Elland Road would mean paying a transfer fee.

Leeds United can overtake Rangers in Keelan Adams transfer chase

While playing for one of Glasgow’s big two sides is seen as the pinnacle for many players north of the border, playing in the Premier League is the dream of most footballers and football fans the world over.

The Peacocks remain a Championship club for now but have solidified their spot in the top two and hopes of sealing their return to the top flight.

The EFL Championship, let alone the Premier League, would be a huge step up from the Scottish second tier for Adams, but under a coach like Daniel Farke, he could have a path to the United first team.

Promotion at the end of the current season would certainly give Leeds the funds to blow Rangers out of the water transfer-wise, but with Adams out of contract in 2026, no fee would be unreasonable.

Given the level he’s currently playing at, Adams may only be seen as an option if the Whites fail to make it back to the top flight, but that could still mean they’re the defender’s preferred option ahead of a move to Ibrox.

In other Leeds news, Ally McCoist has suggested the singular reason why Daniel Farke isn’t universally loved at Elland Road.
