Leeds United ready January transfer blitz as David Brooks emerges as loan target at Bournemouth
Leeds United are readying a move to sign David Brooks on loan from Bournemouth in January as they plan to have a busy transfer window, according to Alex Crook.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (29 December, 12:06pm), the journalist said the 26-year-old attacking midfielder is also being eyed by the Whites’ Championship promotion rivals as both clubs look to secure an immediate return to the Premier League this season.
He added that the Welsh international hasn’t played as much football as he would’ve expected for the Cherries during this campaign, meaning he will be looking to get some minutes under his belt.

“He (Brooks) is wanted by two different teams in the Championship looking to get back to the Premier League,” said host Sam Matterface.
“Yeah, two of the high-flyers in that division, Southampton and Leeds United,” said Crook. “I’m told that Leeds are planning quite a busy January in order to ensure that they can get back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.
“Brooks hasn’t played much football this season, certainly not as much as he would’ve expected to, so I think he’ll be looking to go out and try and get some game time under his belt because, of course, Wales have got these crucial playoff games for a place at the European Championships coming up.”
Depth
It makes absolute sense for Leeds to be looking to strengthen their squad in January as there are set to be several twists and turns in the second half of the season.
Daniel Farke will know that he has to be fully prepared for any potential situation that could arise, so having players who can play in more than one position – with Brooks capable of playing behind the striker or off the right – is a bonus.
The Whites are also a little bit short in the attacking midfield area as they don’t have too many options to bring someone off the bench centrally who can look to make things happen.

It’s no surprise to hear that Southampton are also interested in signing the Welshman after he has shown his quality at club level and internationally.
With his opportunities limited at the Vitality Stadium this season, having made just two Premier League starts, he will be chomping at the bit to secure some regular first-team minutes.
