Leeds United ready £30m bid to re-sign Kalvin Phillips after West Ham fan incident at Newcastle
Leeds United are ready to bid £30million to re-sign Kalvin Phillips once they are promoted to the Premier League, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The newspaper reported via their print edition on 31 March (page 65) that the Whites are going to try to sign the 28-year-old for £12million less than what they received from Manchester City when he swapped Elland Road for the Etihad in 2022.
Phillips is currently enduring a miserable loan at West Ham, who are unlikely to sign the England international permanently at the end of the season.
Will Leeds United sign Kalvin Phillips in summer transfer window?
Phillips was brilliant for Leeds – that’s undeniable.
His form at Elland Road led to Paul Robinson telling MOT Leeds News in 2021 that the midfielder is “world-class” while he also played a major role in England reaching the European Championships final that same year.
Phillips played over 230 times for the Whites in all competitions but since leaving almost two years ago, he’s played just 40 times in total.
At Man City, he’s been nothing but a bench warmer and at West Ham, his form has led to a very angry reaction from West Ham fans with the midfielder getting in an altercation with them as he boarded West Ham’s team bus after the 4-3 loss at Newcastle on Saturday 30 March.
Footage shows Phillips being called “useless” with the ex-Leeds man responding by flicking the middle finger at onlooking supporters.

It’s not been pretty for Phillips in East London – but would we want him back at Leeds?
In all honesty, we should give him a wide berth because his form at West Ham is proving that he’s not the player he once was. It’s very clear that he’s missing Marcelo Bielsa and we doubt he’ll ever be as good as he was at Leeds if he came back.
In other Leeds United news, the club could land a significant windfall if one EFL player moves on this summer.
