Leeds United: Rasmus Kristensen set for Elland Road return after Roma transfer news

Rasmus Kristensen looks set to return to Leeds United following his loan spell at Roma, while Diego Llorente is likely to stay, according to Corriere Dello Sport.

The Italian news outlet reported in its print edition [21 March, page 10] that there is a “good chance” Llorente will make the permanent move to Roma, with his option to buy set at £4.2million.

Kristensen, however, alongside his teammate Sardar Azmoun, will not be staying in Italy and is expected to make his return to Elland Road following the expiry of his loan.

Could Rasmus Kristensen remain at Leeds United this summer?

Returning to Elland Road after his loan spell does not necessarily mean the full-back will become a fixture of Daniel Farke’s squad or feature in his plans for next season. It is equally as likely that the club will look for a permanent taker in a bid to raise a profit.

The defender had recently spoken about his desire to quit Elland Road after their relegation from the Premier League as he confessed he was keen to link up with then-Roma boss Jose Mourinho, as he jumped at the opportunity to work with him.

It has been a turbulent start to his career in Italy for the defender. He has been left out of Mourinho’s Europa League squad and reports claim the former Chelsea boss has not been impressed by the Dane.

If a long-term stay at Leeds is on the cards, he will have to win back the fans who have already cut emotional ties with the likes of Max Wober and Robin Koch, who now appear to have separate transfer exits in their future.
