Leeds United pull out of race to sign Wolves star Adama Traore

Leeds United are unwilling to match Wolves’ £40million valuation of star winger Adama Traore, according to 90min.

The football news website claims the Whites are ready to pay £30million for the 25-year-old Spain international but won’t go over that.

It is understood that Tottenham now want to sign Traore and the ex-Barcelona player is pushing for a move to North London.

90min’s report suggests that as a result of his price tag, Leeds have dropped out of the race to sign the Molineux speedster.

Never going to happen

Leeds’ transfer business has been very muted this summer in comparison to last year when Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa splashed around £100million on new signings.

A lot of work had to be done to get the team from Championship standard to being capable of staying in the Premier League and exactly that happened.

It was a massive splurge by the club and some fans seem to think that will be the norm now.

However, that isn’t the case.

Junior Firpo and Kristoffer Klaesson have been the only senior additions this summer and while the Whites are still linked with a central midfielder and potentially a winger, we doubt much more will be spent.

Traore is an expensive player.

He’s experienced in the Premier League, he’s very fast and he’s had one or two good seasons with Wolves.

We don’t agree that he’s a £40million player – £30million is probably too much too.

Leeds cannot be blamed for not wanting to pay over the odds for someone who is no more than a very fast and strong player.

He simply doesn’t get the goals or assists a Raphinha would.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has reacted when asked if Rodrigo could be sold by the Whites this summer.
