Leeds United priced Wolves out of last-ditch Max Wober transfer as Molineux issue emerges

Leeds United priced Wolves out of a late summer move for Max Wober which comes as a blow at Molineux after the latest injury update, according to Give Me Sport.

The online outlet reported on 26 September that the Premier League side explored a deal for the Austria international but couldn’t make progress as they couldn’t meet the financial demands set by the Whites.

Gary O’Neil’s side are likely to be frustrated with this failed move especially after Yerson Mosquera suffered a long-term injury blow against Aston Villa.

The 26-year-old spent last season on loan in the Bundesliga and did impress on the whole, but has returned to Elland Road for this campaign.

Despite this, the defender has failed to land a role in the first team, making just one appearance so far this year, in the 3-0 cup defeat against Middlesbrough.

This has been mainly down to the form of the likes of Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk who have formed a strong partnership at the heart of the Whites’ defence.

As a result of this, it comes as a surprise that Daniel Farke and Co. didn’t look to cash in on the centre back during the transfer window.

A move to Wolves could have proved to suit all parties given the financial benefit for Leeds and for O’Neil’s squad in the Midlands.

The Premier League side could return with a bid for the Austrian in the January window given he has been a fringe player in the opening moments of the campaign.

However, with his latest injury, this may prove to scupper a move to the top division any time soon.
