Leeds United player set to seal permanent transfer exit
Leeds United loanee Sam Greenwood is likely to seal a transfer away from Elland Road in the summer, according to Beren Cross.
The LeedsLive journalist reported on 17 December that the Whites are hoping that his value would keep on increasing due to his performance on loan at Preston North End.
Preston’s former manager Ryan Lowe revealed in November that he worked extremely hard to bring the 22-year-old attacking midfielder to Deepdale in the summer.
Leeds United parting ways with Sam Greenwood is a sensible move
At 22, Greenwood is at a developmental stage where consistent first-team football is crucial for his growth, something he’s unlikely to secure at Leeds with the existing squad depth and competition.
His loan spell at Preston North End has been successful so far, suggesting he has adapted well to the demands of Championship football, which could make Deepdale an ideal destination for him to continue his career.
From Leeds’ perspective, this move would not only free up a squad spot for a player who might be more ready for Premier League action should they get promoted but also potentially generate funds through the sale, which could be reinvested into the team.
Moreover, if Preston are interested in signing him permanently, it indicates they value his contributions, which could lead to a favourable fee for Leeds.
A lot will depend on how he plays for the rest of the season and whether or not the Whites can actually return to the top flight.

If they do, it will all but seal Greenwood’s exit in the summer.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign a defender who cost £11m in June with a transfer on the cards on one condition.
