Leeds United: Pascal Struijk sends two-word message as Elland Road exit confirmed

Pascal Struijk has sent a two-word message on social media after the permanent exit of Robin Koch from Leeds United has been confirmed.

It was announced on Tuesday (9 January) that the German international will sign for Eintracht Frankfurt, where he’s been on loan this season, on a three-year deal when his Whites contract comes to an end in the summer.

The 27-year-old centre-back posted a photo of himself signing a contract with the Bundesliga club on Instagram, with his former teammate Struijk saying “Congrats bruder”.

No surprise

It doesn’t come as much of a surprise to see that Koch has signed a deal at Frankfurt as his contract with Leeds is due to expire in the summer.

The biggest frustration for the club, though, will be that they won’t receive any money for the defender after signing him from Freiburg for £12million in 2020.

The Whites will have known that would be likely to be the case when he left on loan over the summer after a clause in his contract was activated.

The German put in some decent performances during his time at Elland Road, but he was one of a number of players who weren’t good enough as they suffered relegation from the Premier League last season.

After deciding not to stick around and help the club fight for promotion back to the top flight, he’s one of several players who won’t be remembered too fondly in West Yorkshire.
