Leeds United open to selling Crysencio Summerville, Illan Meslier and Junior Firpo despite training well under Daniel Farke

Leeds United could sell Crysencio Summerville and Illan Meslier if they receive acceptable offers despite both training well under Daniel Farke, according to Beren Cross.

Writing on the LeedsLive website (19 July), the journalist shared that the entire first-team squad has returned to training under the new manager including players who were on international duty last month.

But despite the Dutch winger and French goalkeeper training well since returning, both are still expected to leave this summer along with Junior Firpo if the right offers arrive before the window closes.

“The stance on Meslier and Summerville, who are understood to have already trained well under Farke, and Junior Firpo could be a little softer if the right offers do come in. However, Farke’s opinion in all of this is critical,” they wrote.

“As the manager, he will have the final say on transfer dealings and how his squad looks. Those players fans had perhaps consigned to the scrapheap or considered done with Leeds, could yet fight their way back if they impress the German.”

Double-edged sword

Leeds fans and the club will surely have been expecting more movement in the transfer window at this point in the summer, with both incoming and outgoings.

Ethan Ampadu is currently the only player to arrive at Elland Road, while Robin Koch, Brenden Aaronson, Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen have all left on loan.

There has been plenty of speculation around the likes of Tyler Adams, Jack Harrison and Wilfried Gnonto but talks have been quiet about the future of Firpo, Summerville and Meslier despite reported interest.

With the new season only a few weeks away now, Farke will have a big decision to make on whether to include them in his plans for the new campaign as we edge closer to the first game and they’re still here.

If they’re training well then there is no reason they shouldn’t be involved, but the risk will be there that an offer comes in and they’re suddenly no longer available, putting preparations at risk.

It’s a big decision for the boss, but ultimately he has the final say on transfers and it will be his call.
