Leeds United open talks with AS Roma to sign winger Ola Solbakken
Leeds United have opened talks with Serie A giants Roma to sign winger Ola Solbakken before deadline day, according to the Daily Mail.
Writing on their official Twitter account (31 August), the news outlet report that the Norway international has emerged as a late target for Daniel Farke at Elland Road.
Leeds have held talks with the player’s agent about a move on Thursday morning, with interest still high in Wilfried Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra.
“Leeds United have opened talks over a potential deal for Roma winger Ola Solbakken,” they wrote.
“The Championship outfit have clubs showing interest in Willy Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra so are making contingency plans with Norway international Solbakken.
“The 24-year old‘s agent has been talking to Leeds this morning but there is rival interest from another foreign club.”
Surely not?
Solbakken is an international level winger playing in one of the top leagues in world football, so a move to Elland Road is quite the step down for him.
Leeds and Roma have already done business twice this summer, with Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen both joining the Italian side on season-long loan deals. So relationships are likely good between the sides.
As big as Leeds are as a club we have to be realistic about the fact we are now playing in the Championship this season and may not be so attractive to these top players.

Add to that the fact that our attacking positions are currently stacked right now with the likes of Wilfried Gnonto, Luis Sinisterra, Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Ian Poveda and Daniel James a deal seems unnecessary.
But with that said, if Farke feels we need more in attack then who are we to complain. Bringing in more quality will only help us in our bid to gain promotion back to the Premier League, and then our quality in attack won’t look so out of place.
It’s going to be a busy final few hours of the window, and Leeds are active. So this is one to keep an eye on for sure.
In other Leeds news, total agreement reached for brand new midfield signing according to Sky Sports.
