Leeds United offered £5m+ by Real Betis in new Diego Llorente transfer development
Leeds United have received a bid in the region of £5million from Real Betis for defender Diego Llorente, according to Il Messaggero.
The Italian newspaper reported via its online edition [30 June] that Betis have set their sights on acquiring the former Real Madrid man’s services on a permanent basis.
Betis are said to have offered €6m (£5.1m) for the services of Llorente, who spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan with Roma.
If a move comes to fruition, he would be joining former teammate Marc Roca, who recently sealed a move to Manuel Pellegrini’s side after spending 2023/24 on loan with the club.
Why Leeds United should let Diego Llorente go this summer
Thanks to the ongoing transfer saga around Leeds starlet Archie Gray, the West Yorkshire outfit have had what some might call a hectic couple of days.
It was reported on 29 June that the 18-year-old was set for a £40m move to Brentford [Graham Smyth] but there have been plenty of twists and turns since then.
What does seem pretty likely at this stage is that Gray will move on eventually, with £40million now the figure to aim for.
The sale of Llorente, however, could still prove quite beneficial to the West Yorkshire outfit.

The Spaniard has spent the last 18 months away from the club at Roma so should a move occur, Leeds wouldn’t be likely to miss him much.
Especially since the future of Max Wober is still also undecided. The £5m fee that the Whites will receive from Betis will no doubt help ease their PSR concerns further and allow the club to start spending and improving the team.
In other Leeds news, the Whites have set their demands for Illan Meslier should he leave the club this summer.
