Leeds United now set to sign Brazilian forward Tete, he'll arrive in England on Friday - L'Equipe

Leeds United are not only signing Weston McKennie in the dying stages of the January transfer window because LEquipe now reports that Shakhtar Donetsk forward Tete is on his way to Elland Road.

The French newspaper reported via their website on Friday morning (27 January) that Tete, 22, has an agreement to terminate his loan deal at Lyon if he’s able to find himself a new club.

And it is understood that he’s done just that.

L’Equipe claims that the Brazil Under-23 international is set to arrive in England on Friday ahead of completing an out-of-the-blue move to Elland Road.

Out of nowhere

We’ll need to see some more reports of Tete making a move to Elland Road for us to find this 100 per cent believable because we’re not sure how the Whites can justify signing another winger.

Tete has done well at Lyon on loan this season, scoring six goals in 17 Ligue 1 appearances, as well as supplying three assists.

You’d assume that if we’re signing him, he’d be a starter with Victor Orta looking for lightning to strike twice after the success Raphinha had in West Yorkshire.

But Leeds – unless they’re expecting Jack Harrison to leave – already have a good number of wide players.

Tete is a right-sided winger but Jesse Marsch does have plenty of options in that area of his squad.

Let’s see.

It could be a very busy day for Orta in West Yorkshire on Friday with Sky Sports Italy claiming that an agreement could be struck with Juventus for the signing of USA international McKennie.
