Leeds United now risk losing Crysencio Summerville to Nottingham Forest

Leeds United are in a “vulnerable” position and could risk losing Crysencio Summerville this summer with Nottingham Forest possibly interested, according to The Athletic’s Daniel Taylor.

During Taylor’s Q&A session on Forest [28 May], it was claimed that the club had shown a firm interest in Summerville two years ago, with the Dutchman then valued at around £2million.

Following Leeds’ Championship play-off final defeat to Southampton on Sunday (26 May), the club now risk a potential raid for their most valuable assets, with Summerville a prime target for several Premier League outfits and teams abroad.

Taylor commented: “I know Forest gave a lot of thought to Crysencio Summerville two years ago.

“He was cheap then, around £2m, and one of those players, in hindsight, that maybe [Forest] should have gone for.

“Does that mean [they] will go for him now? I really don’t know – it wouldn’t surprise me, but I’m very much just speculating. Leeds are going to be vulnerable, to say the least, this summer.”

Summerville and others could leave Leeds United after Wembley defeat

This summer could be a daunting one transfer-wise for Leeds United following their failure to return straight to the Premier League.

Whilst it looks like manager Daniel Farke will be staying put, several of their key performers could be set to leave Elland Road including Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto and Georginio Rutter.

Phil Hay reinforced the reality that Leeds will have to sell players to meet EFL financial regulations, alongside the fact some of the club’s top players will be disgruntled at the idea of another year out of the top flight.

Summerville is certainly one of them. The Championship Player of the Year is Premier League quality, and is likely to be a reluctant but inevitable cut from Farke’s squad in the coming weeks.

Other important players, such as Archie Gray and Illan Meslier, fall into the category of players Leeds will be in high hopes to keep, but any lucrative offers are bound to test the club’s resolve.
