Leeds United now on verge of signing Connor Roberts in Deadline Day deal from Burnley

A transfer for Burnley defender Connor Roberts to Leeds United is close, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

Crook reported via his personal X account on Thursday (1 February) that the Whites are on the verge of the Deadline Day signature.

The right-back has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season for Burnley, 14 of which have come in the Premier League.

There has been plenty of movement at right-back already in the current transfer window at Leeds, with Luke Ayling leaving for Middlesbrough and Djed Spence returning to parent club Tottenham.

Amid those deals, one constant has been the superb displays of young star Archie Gray, with the talented teenager having recently committed his long-term future to the club.

But that seemingly hasn’t stopped Daniel Farke from bringing in Roberts, who looks set to arrive at Elland Road on Deadline Day.

It perhaps comes as no surprise given how Gray is a midfielder by trade, with the 17-year-old certainly having a bright Leeds future in both roles.

The versatile Jamie Shackleton has also been utilised at right-back in recent times, but Roberts could now come in and make the position his own.

The 28-year-old boasts plenty of big-game experience, having featured in the Premier League for both the Clarets and Swansea City, while the defender also has over 50 Wales caps to his name.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are hoping for the reset of one player as contract talks continue at Elland Road.
