Leeds United not messing around as details emerge of Lucas Perri medical

Leeds United’s hunt for a goalkeeper could soon be over, as Lucas Perri is set to undergo a medical.

Leeds have agreed a fee with Lyon to sign Perri and are wasting no time in getting the deal over the line.

Daniel Farke had considered several options to replace Illan Meslier as his number one, but Perri has been identified as his first choice.

Details of Lucas Perri Leeds medical emerge

Perri has a fantastic fitness record and should have little problem passing his Leeds medical, so it’s seemingly now a question of when the transfer will be completed.

Graham Smyth, chief football writer at the Yorkshire Evening Post, has shared via X (24 July) that the medical will take place in Germany, where Leeds are currently enjoying a pre-season tour, rather than back in England as previously reported.

This scenario is common enough. In fact, it was the same procedure with Anton Stach, who signed for Leeds from Hoffenheim earlier in July.

Presuming everything goes to plan, Perri should be announced as a Leeds player within the next couple of days.

The fact that they want Perri to undergo the medical in Germany suggests Farke wants the goalkeeper involved with his new team-mates as soon as possible.

Daniel Farke is building a strong spine for Leeds United

Leeds United have proven they’re serious about building a team that can thrive in the Premier League.

It has been tough for promoted teams to compete in the top tier in recent years, but Daniel Farke is building a team that should be able to mix it with the best of them.

The spine of his team is now looking particularly strong thanks to his activity in the transfer market.

Perri will become his first-choice goalkeeper, and he should have no problem adapting to the demands of the Premier League.

Jaka Bijol will marshal the defence. The 6’3″ Slovenian has taken no prisoners in Serie A or at international level.

Meanwhile, Farke can select Stach and Sean Longstaff in the centre of his midfield. This pair should offer the perfect mix of techical ability and physical presence.

If Leeds can attract a proven striker to the club, that could be the missing ingredient that helps people to start believing in his team. Joel Piroe has been lively in pre-season, while Felix Nmecha has been signed from Wolfsburg, but neither are proven marksmen in the Premier League.
