Leeds United not currently trying to sign Ryan Kent from Rangers

Leeds United have tried to sign Ryan Kent in the past but are not actively pursuing a deal for the Rangers winger this summer, according to David Anderson.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Friday afternoon, the Mirror journalist reported that Marcelo Bielsa does admire the 24-year-old but there are other wingers ahead of him on Leeds’ shortlist.

The Athletic has refuelled speculation linking Kent with a move to Elland Road by recently reporting the Yorkshire club is keen on the ex-Liverpool attacker.

Every. Single. Summer.

It wouldn’t be a transfer window without reading Leeds United and Ryan Kent in the same sentence.

Leeds are always being linked with a move for the former Liverpool winger and that must be based on the fact the club bid for him last year and Bielsa is widely reported to be a fan of the Englishman.

Rangers rejected a £10million bid by Leeds for Kent last summer [BBC] and after that, the 24-year-old went and had the best season of his career.

He scored 13 goals and supplied 15 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions as the Gers won the Scottish Premiership title and reached the last 16 of the Europa League.

Leeds are well-placed to make new signings this summer after such an impressive first season back in the Premier League and Kent would definitely fit in at Elland Road.

However, we have settled starting wingers in Jack Harrison and Raphinha while there’s also cover from Ian Poveda, Helder Costa and Stuart Dallas.

We could do with a new winger to add a bit more depth but Kent doesn’t seem as though he’s going to be the one.

In other Leeds United news, this big-money Leeds player has missed pre-season training amid speculation about a potential move away from the club.
