Leeds United news: Major Spertsyan transfer bombshell emerges
Leeds United are currently focusing on ending the season positively and returning to the Premier League.
Last season, the Whites came extremely close to a top-flight return but ended up losing to Southampton in the play-off final.
Now, they find themselves five points clear of third place and in a comfortable position to finish in the automatic promotion spots.
Leeds United take the first step towards signing Eduard Spertsyan
Krasnodar attacking midfielder Eduard Spertsyan was linked with a move to Elland Road in the winter transfer window as well, but a move did not materialise.
However, recently, he confirmed that he wanted to leave the club and that Leeds is a destination that is of interest to him.
The feeling certainly seems to be mutual as the Whites have taken the first step towards making him their first signing of the summer transfer window.
Give Me Sport journalist Ben Jacobs reported on 14 February that an initial approach has been made by the West Yorkshire club.
It’s understood that he would be open to joining the club in the Championship too in case they fail to get promoted.
Daniel Farke must now individually contact Eduard Spertsyan
Given the club’s current focus on securing promotion and their interest in the 24-year-old, the next steps may involve direct engagement with the player and his representatives.
After the initial approach, the Whites should now prioritise setting up formal discussions.
This would involve Leeds’ management, particularly Daniel Farke, getting in touch personally with the Armenia international to express the club’s interest and outline the vision for his role at Elland Road.
This personal touch from German, who has a history with Spertsyan from his time at Krasnodar, could be pivotal in convincing the player of the benefits of moving to Elland Road.
Concurrently, the club’s negotiators should work on agreeing personal terms, discussing aspects like salary, contract length and potential incentives tied to promotion or performance.

This phase is crucial as it sets the groundwork for a smooth transition, ensuring the attacking midfielder feels valued and sees a clear path to success with Leeds, whether in the Championship or back in the Premier League.
