Leeds United news: Fabrizio Romano shares Raphinha to Barcelona update on Sunday
Barcelona are yet to table a bid for Leeds United winger Raphinha due to two release clauses in his contract, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Sunday afternoon [27 March], The Guardian journalist reported that there’s a £75million release clause in the 25-year-old’s deal at Elland Road right now but it would be reduced to £25million if the Whites are relegated.
Sport also reported today that Barca have already had a bid rejected for Raphinha but Romano claims the Catalans are waiting to make an opening offer due to those clauses.
Romano adds that personal terms are “not an issue” for Raphinha and Deco, the Brazilian’s agent, has been in advanced talks with the Nou Camp club since February.
New twist in the saga
Talk of Raphinha going to Barcelona has been growing with each passing day in this transfer window.
While it may seem to some that journalists and the media are just filling their time with transfer rumours due to the international break – do you not think that clubs are also using this time to make plans for the summer and kick off talks?
Raphinha comes across as a Barcelona player, if we’re honest.

He’s certainly good enough for the La Liga giants and we’d be shocked if he’s a Leeds player no matter what next season based on how well he’s done at Elland Road.
If he goes to Barca, we wish him all the best. However, we just hope we get a good amount of money for him.
With Romano, an elite source of transfer news, saying no bid has been made yet, this is a new twist in the saga but one that is good for Leeds.
It wouldn’t make sense for Barcelona to bid yet as there could be two entirely different valuations for the ex-Rennes winger in the summer.
