Leeds United news: Diego Llorente to Roma transfer twist emerges

Roma want to exercise the clause and sign Leeds United defender as soon as possible, according to a report by Tutto Mercato Web.

The Italian media outlet reported on 7 February that a number of clubs are keen on securing the services of the Spanish centre-back.

La Repubblica reported on 6 February that an agreement had been reached with Leeds to sign the 30-year-old for just £4.2million.

Llorente transfer to Roma comes as no surprise

Leeds’ willingness to part ways with Llorente suggests that they have moved on from him and that he may not have been the ideal fit for the English game.

Under Daniel Farke, they have already found a promising centre-back pairing in Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk.

The potential promotion of Leeds to the Premier League could provide them with the opportunity to make even stronger signings, further solidifying their defence.

Given the interest from Roma and the fee involved in Llorente’s potential transfer, it seems that the Whites are prepared to let him go and explore other options to strengthen their squad.

Hopefully, this money will be used on someone worthy who strengthens the playing eleven and helps the club achieve their goals for next season.

There is a possibility that even if Rodon joins permanently, Farke may ask the board to bring in another centre-back.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites could have moved fast to sign a West Ham defender with just a few negotiation points left to iron out.
