Leeds United news as injury and transfer update emerges on Tyler Adams

Sources close to Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams have insisted the midfielder will be ready to play in the middle of September, after his move to Chelsea collapsed, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper shared via its website on 12 August the USA international is hoping to be back fit for a return to action after the September international break, with a timeframe of four weeks given before his return.

Adams underwent non-invasive surgery following his hamstring injury sustained in March, which saw him miss the end of Leeds United’s Premier League season before the club were relegated.

Leeds can still be hopeful of hanging on

A £20million move to Chelsea fell through despite the bid meeting his release clause as the West London club has prioritised moves for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo. Interest in Adams remains high, with Liverpool and Aston Villa among the clubs monitoring him.

News that he could return from injury following September’s international break could be a benefit to Leeds, with Adams set to make his return to the squad, which will see his quality instantly imposed.

Plenty of stars have already exited Elland Road so far this summer following the club’s relegation to the Championship, so keeping Adams will be seen as a success by the board, as they look to retain the Premier League quality players who are still at the club.

After Chelsea made the call to trigger Adams’ release clause, it is not too farfetched to suggest one of the other interested clubs may make their move, with a particular focus on Liverpool whose priority targets Lavia and Caicedo now look set for moves to Chelsea.
