Leeds United news as Daniel Farke shares thoughts on player he could be about to sign
Daniel Farke has shared his thoughts on Newcastle United keeper Karl Darlow as his move to Leeds United edges closer.
Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth tweeted on 27 July that the Whites boss doesn’t like to speak about players before a transfer is completed, but that he said the 32-year-old is a “good goalkeeper”.
The move taking Darlow to Elland Road is expected to be completed imminently after Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said he was due to undergo his medical yesterday (27 July).
Safe hands
The Leeds boss obviously won’t want to say too much about another club’s player before the transfer goes through, but he is right that Darlow is a good keeper.
It looks as though it’s just a formality now before the deal is announced after Howe confirmed that his medical was due to take place yesterday.
The Whites will be looking forward to ending their long pursuit of a new keeper this summer and will be pleased to have secured a safe pair of hands as they look to prepare for the likely departure of Illan Meslier.

The keeper is highly thought of at Newcastle after spending nine years at the club, with Howe saying in a press conference on 26 July that he has been an “incredible servant” during his time on Tyneside.
He also adds great Championship experience, having won promotion to the Premier League with the Magpies in the 2016-17 season and making 152 appearances in the second tier, while keeping 48 clean sheets along the way.
There’s no doubt Darlow will be a valuable addition to the Leeds squad and they’ll be looking forward to completing the transfer in the coming days.
