Leeds United must compromise as Joe Gelhardt transfer eyed in January

Leeds United would need to compromise for Rangers to sign Joe Gelhardt in January, according to TEAMtalk.

The online outlet reported on 27 November that the Whites will allow the 22-year-old to leave on loan as his playing time continues to get hit at Elland Road.

The Gers are keeping tabs on the striker and would prefer a loan with an option to buy as the asking price for the ex-Wigan youngster may be out of their reach.

Rangers want Joe Gelhardt loan deal from Leeds United

It is safe to say that Daniel Farke isn’t a massive fan of the forward given his lack of game time in the past few seasons.

Since returning from his loan spell with Sunderland, Gelhardt has made just 16 appearances for the Yorkshire club so a move away would make sense.

If a loan deal is the best option in January then the former England Under-19s international has a whole host of options to pick from.

Both Old Firm clubs have shown an interest in signing him but it appears that the Gers have put their foot forward with a possible loan-to-buy option.

Leeds United fans light blue and yellow smoke bombs
Leeds United fans are among the most passionate supporters in the country.

This arguably suits all parties as it allows the striker to go out and gain experience in a new league where he may be able to shine.

With Joel Piroe, Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph ahead of him in the pecking order at Elland Road, a temporary stint at Ibrox could be utilised to prove a point to Farke and Co.
