Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich faces uncertain future

Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich is facing an uncertain future at Elland Road.

Jesse Marsch has refused to close the door on the idea of his potential departure. The Whites boss has sent a strong message saying that the next few months are crucial for some of the players.

The 32-year-old midfielder struggled last season to make a big impact, and he needs to raise his game if he wants to get into the World Cup squad for Poland.

“I don’t know yet. I really like Mateusz and his mentality has been great,” said Marsch, as quoted by Leeds Live (31 July).

“He understandably really wants to go to the World Cup and all of our guys are trying to figure out how it all fits. It’s an important four or five months for a lot of players. I like having Mateusz here, he’s a great guy and he’s put a lot into this, we’ll see what happens.”

With Kalvin Phillips gone, many expect Klich to take a more important role in the side. He is a senior player and has got loads of experience.

However, the Polish midfielder looked way off the pace last season, and made some ghastly errors in midfield.

He no longer looked the same old commanding midfielder, and that’s why Marsch remains unsure about what to do with him.

Leeds have bolstered their midfield this summer, and there is every chance that Klich could drop down the pecking order at the club.

At the moment, it feels like Marsch is ready to keep him. He will probably tell him to give his best shot and take his place into the side through sheer merit.

At the same time, the Whites could be willing to let him go as well if they receive a handsome offer for the midfielder. The fact that Marsch hasn’t ruled out that possibility clearly indicates that Leeds are more than ready to move on within him.
