Jesse Marsch reacts to Leeds United transfer news on Jack Harrison this week

The Athletic’s Phil Hay has relayed Jesse Marsch’s eagerness to keep Jack Harrison at Leeds United this season following transfer speculation linking the winger with a move away.

Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett reported on 25 January that Leicester City were eyeing up a potential month for Harrison this month.

Nevertheless, it seems Harrison is firmly in Marsch’s plans moving forward after he labelled the winger as “incredible” and admitted the team need him.

“Marsch on Harrison’s future: His commitment to being here has been amazing,” said Hay on Twitter. (26 January, 1:36 PM)

“He’s in incredible for and he’s an important guy for us. I haven’t even discussed with Jack because for me it’s really clear – we need him.”

Not letting go.

Dorsett also reported on 25 January that Leeds United weren’t keen on entertaining Leicester’s proposed move for Harrison, due to them being the club’s relegation rival.

The Sky Sports journalist also reported that the Whites were keen for Harrison to agree upon a new and improved contract at Elland Road.

And now after Marsch’s declaration of love, it’s pretty clear that unless Harrison forces his way out of West Yorkshire, he will be staying firmly put.

In the grand scheme of things, this isn’t at all a bad move, especially when you consider the Whites woeful attacking injury record this season.

Right now, the depth in attacking positions has never looked better at Elland Road and Harrison is a key part of this depth moving forward.

Whether the winger can crack down a starting position in Marsch’s first XI remains to be seen but he is a solid option to rotate into the squad and off from the bench.
