Leeds United make Joel Piroe transfer decision as Southampton replacement lined up
Leeds United could look to sell Joel Piroe this summer with the club interested in signing Che Adams from Southampton, according to TEAMtalk.
The report on 15 May suggests Adams is on the radar of several clubs including Leeds, with Daniel Farke knowing the Whites are far more likely to attract the Scotland striker if they earn promotion to the Premier League this month.
Adams has hit 18 goals in all competitions this season with Piroe – three years his junior – scoring 13, two of them coming for previous club Swansea City and the rest across 43 outings for Leeds.
The Southampton man is said to be seeking an exit from St Mary’s after five years, with Everton and Wolves among the Premier League clubs interested in a potential move.
Would Che Adams be an upgrade on Joel Piroe at Leeds United?
At a glance, many Leeds fans would consider Adams to be a better front option than Piroe, despite both players hitting double-figure goal tallies this term.
Whilst both are proven in the Championship, Adams has played in the Premier League although he has not yet reached 10 league goals in each of his four seasons at the top level with Southampton.
Piroe was prolific in his two years at Swansea with 20-plus seasons in all competitions, and at 24 is younger than Adams, but may not be fully entrusted by Farke after he was bizarrely dropped for the play-off semi-final first leg at Norwich City last Sunday.

The issue for both Leeds and Southampton business-wise is that their respective hierarchies cannot yet put a plan of action for the summer in place until they know which division they will compete in next season – which for the Yorkshiremen could mean the difference between Piroe and Adams.
