Leeds United make Joe Rodon transfer breakthrough as Tottenham news drops

Leeds United made significant progression in their hunt for Tottenham defender Joe Rodon overnight, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reports that the Whites are confident that things are moving in the right direction to finalise Rodon and Archie Gray’s exit, and an agreement could even be reached as early as tonight (1 July.)

The journalist also detailed that the fee could be in the region of £40million and would count towards the EFL’s PSR regulations as the deal was at an advanced stage before the 30 June deadline.

A move that includes Rodon is an ideal situation for Leeds, albeit in separate deals.

The Wales international is one of many players that the West Yorkshire outfit have been linked with [Beren Cross, 1 July] throughout the transfer window this far.

Centre-back was one of Leeds’ biggest issues going into the 2024/25 season but now, with the prospect of Rodon returning, it’s another area Daniel Farke won’t have to worry about.

Although a fee will still have to be paid for Rodon, Leeds may be given something of a discount due to the deal they struck with Spurs and Gray.

The return of Pascal Struijk from injury will also be a major boost to the Whites ahead of their pre-season friendlies for their upcoming campaign.

In addition, players such as Adam Hlozek have been linked with a transfer to Leeds [BILD, 24 June] and thanks to this deal with Tottenham, they may be able to turn their focus to the winger once the money has entered their account.
