Leeds United ‘make huge transfer call’ amid Igor Paixao twist

Leeds United are reportedly keen on securing the services of Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao this summer.

Daniel Farke has already seen his defence bolstered and by signing Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach, two midfielders have been added to the fold, giving them plenty of options in the middle of the park.

Lukas Nmecha also joined on a free transfer, but he’s not expected to be a regular starter for the Whites.

Marseille move for Paixao is not derailing Leeds’ chase

According to Graham Smyth in the Yorkshire Evening Post (21 July), the Whites believe a deal can still be struck with Feyenoord for the 25-year-old.

This is despite reports claiming that Marseille were progressing towards securing his services.

Thus far, the Elland Road outfit have not got a phone call that tells them he’s on his way to the French side, so hope remains.

He is viewed by many at the club as the difference maker as they look to avoid relegation from the Premier League next season.

Smyth wrote on X: “Obviously they might get a phone call at any time saying he’s off to Marseille but it hasn’t come yet. And he’s definitely a player worth keeping the door open for a bit longer.”

Leeds United must continue their pursuit of Paixao

Paixao would be an excellent signing for Leeds United due to his proven attacking prowess and versatility, which align perfectly with Farke’s Premier League ambitions.

The 25-year-old Brazilian winger, who recorded 18 goals and 19 assists in 47 appearances for Feyenoord last season, including seven goal contributions in the Champions League, brings a potent mix of goal-scoring and creative flair.

His explosive dribbling, quick footwork, and ability to play across the front line make him a dynamic replacement for departed loanee Manor Solomon.

His thunderous right foot and Raphinha-inspired playing style evoke memories of Leeds’ former star, suggesting he could thrive in the Premier League.

Despite a recent injury, his youth and experience, including a Dutch Footballer of the Year award, indicate he can make an immediate impact, bolstering Leeds’ attack and aiding their survival bid.
