Leeds United make approach to sign Conor Gallager, Chelsea ready to loan him out
Chelsea are ready to send Conor Gallagher out on loan this summer after Leeds United made an approach to sign him, according to The Athletic.
The news outlet claims Leeds feel Gallagher, 21, is the perfect fit for Marcelo Bielsa’s first team and have “pitched the transfer to him already”.
It is understood that Crystal Palace are battling the Whites for the England Under-21 international’s signature but Chelsea are unwilling to sell him permanently.
The Athletic adds they could get him to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge before allowing him to continue his development out on loan.
Based on The Athletic’s update, it does not sound as though Chelsea would be willing to negotiate a permanent agreement for Gallagher to sign for Leeds at the end of the loan.
That’s a great shame and it would be frustrating.
Look at what Bielsa and Leeds did for Ben White, who’s now an England international and widely reported to be on the verge of a big-money move to Arsenal.
We messed up by not fighting harder to get a permanent clause in that loan deal and we should do the exact same with Gallagher.
Chelsea don’t want to sell him for a reason – he’s a very talented, young English midfielder.
He’s a Jack of all trades in the centre of the park.
The former West Brom loan star can pass, he’s fast, he’s aggressive, he can tackle and he won’t ever give up.
If you want to compare him to someone at Leeds then Mateusz Klich is perhaps the most similar to Gallagher, except there’s an age gap of 10 years.
Gallagher would be a good signing for one season. He’s be an excellent signing for anything more.
In other Leeds United news, Andrea Radrizzani has called on this 32-year-old to change team after a baffling post on Twitter.
