Leeds United make approach to sign Chelsea forward Kenedy before Monday deadline
Leeds United have made a last-gasp January approach to sign Chelsea forward Kenedy before the transfer deadline closes tomorrow (Monday) night, according to Mike McGrath.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Sunday (30 January), the Telegraph journalist reports that the Whites have approached the London club with an enquiry about signing the 25-year-old Brazilian.
However, it is understood that a deal has not progressed in time to be completed in time for the 11pm transfer deadline on Monday.
Desperate late attempts
We can see why Leeds wanted to sign Takumi Minamino from Liverpool because he’s a good player who can play in multiple positions.
However, we cannot see why Kenedy would be seen as a good signing by Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa.
Kenedy has been on the books at Chelsea since 2015 but since then, he’s been loaned out to five different clubs and played just 27 times for the London club’s senior side.

Kenedy is a left-sided forward who can also play on the right and up front.
He’s versatile so ticks a big box in that respect for Bielsa.
However, he’s just not good enough, if we’re blunt.
He found himself in and out of Granada’s squad in La Liga last season and wasn’t even played by Flamengo in the Copa Libertadores final in November.
Leeds definitely need to sign one or two new players before the deadline passes at 11pm on Monday night but they shouldn’t sign players for the sake of it.
If they get Kenedy, it’ll feel like a massive panic buy. There’s simply no way that he should be someone who’s considered as good enough for the Whites unless they only wanted him to sit on the bench.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are ready to bid £10million and trigger this midfielder’s release clause.
