Leeds United look at brand new striker transfer – Sky Sports

Leeds United are interested in signing Willem Geubbels FC St. Gallen during the winter transfer window, according to Lyall Thomas.

The journalist revealed via Sky Sports’ live transfer blog (21 January, 12:18 pm) that the Whites are considering signing the 23-year-old on loan.

Leeds’ Championship rivals Norwich City and West Brom are also looking at the possibility of acquiring the centre-forward.

Daniel Farke to add Willem Geubbels firepower to Leeds United

Leeds United are certainly not short of options up front, with Joel Piroe, Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford already in their ranks.

However, it appears Daniel Farke is keen to add more firepower to his attack as he looks to lead the Elland Road to promotion this season.

Piroe has established himself as Farke’s first-choice striker this season, but the German tactician cannot be faulted for wanting a centre-forward who can be on the scoresheet more often.

The Dutchman has found the back of the net just thrice in his last 10 Championship appearances, with two of them coming in the 2-0 win against Stoke City on Boxing Day.

Geubbels, meanwhile, has bagged six goals and two assists in 13 league games for FC St. Gallen this season, while also netting three goals in other competitions.

It now remains to be seen if the West Yorkshire outfit will step up their interest in the Frenchman and bring him to Elland Road for the second half of the season.
