Leeds United likely to complete Marc Roca signing on Monday – Sky Sports journalist

Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg expects Marc Roca to undergo his medical with Leeds United next week despite it being suggested it’ll be held on Friday (17 June).

Sky Sports Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio reported on 14 June that the Bayern Munich midfielder, 25, will have his medical checks with Leeds this Friday.

However, Plettenberg claimed via his personal Twitter account later in the day that Roca has agreed a deal in principle to join Leeds as “in the last hours” he’s said “yes” to the Whites.

But Plettenberg feels it’s more likely that the former Espanyol midfielder will have his medical with the Yorkshire giants early next week on Monday (20 June).

The Sky Sports Germany journalist adds that the deal is worth a total fee of £14.7million.

Conflicting claims

It’s odd that Plettenberg has given credit to Di Marzio’s update that Roca is due a medical this Friday but then said it will “probably” take place on Monday.

It seems to suggest that a delay is expected and that Friday is just the earliest possible date that the medical will take place.

Either way, we doubt it’s going to be an issue for the Whites to wrap this deal up because the goals of all the parties seem to be aligned.

We’re excited to see Roca play for Leeds.

It’s not very often when the Whites get to sign a Spanish midfielder from Bayern Munich and even though he’s been a fringe player at the Allianz Arena, it shows how far we’ve come in recent years to be in this position.

When we were signing players from Germany at the start of Andrea Radrizzani’s reign, it was players like Felix Wiedweld and Pierre-Michel Lasogga coming over to Elland Road.

Now, it’s a very good Spanish midfielder who’s been compared to Xavi Alonso and Sergio Busquets [Bundesliga official website].

Radrizzani’s reign as the owner has been a good one.

Let’s hope things don’t tail off next season when Jesse Marsch being given his first transfer window and, hopefully, his first full season in charge.
